We are very excited to announce the creation of the first Sustainable Lab Awards at Heriot-Watt!
The Sustainable Labs project aims to support staff and students to take energy and resource saving steps while working in their lab. The Awards are a way to recognise individuals and groups who have made a significant impact towards creating a sustainable lab environment.
How to take part
Do you think that you’ve taken steps to be more resource efficient in the lab? Or do you know someone who has created a process or approach that improves sustainability?
If so, we want to hear about it!
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com and tell us more, by 5pm on Wed 21st March. We would like details of:
- Who you are and your role in the lab (PhD student, Undergrad, Technician, Researcher etc.)
- Which lab/group
- What actions, approach, process have you taken or set up
- What impact this has made towards improving sustainability (could be related to energy, water, resources)
*The Awards are currently only open to those who undertake work/study in a lab or workshop.
At the end of March we will select inspiring winners to receive a specially created wooden award to recognise their efforts.
We can’t wait to hear about your work!
About the Award itself
Our beautiful wooden awards have been created onsite by Nathan Oo (Laboratory Technician, EPS). Using an old teak worktop which had been discarded, Nathan cut, sanded and treated the wood, and then laser cut the engraving.
